KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State volleyball team keeps picking up wins on the court and winning weekly awards this season. After defeating Lipscomb on Friday night, Liesl Engelbrecht and Rachel Taylor have been honored by the ASUN.
 
Engelbrecht has been named ASUN Player of the Week and Taylor is the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Engelbrecht led the team with 14 kills hitting .458 last Friday night against Lipscomb. She was also big on the defensive end coming up with a career high nine blocks against the Bisons.
 
Taylor was huge on the defensive end leading the Owls with 10 blocks on the night. She had seven kills in the match.
 
Overall, KSU played great defense against Lipscomb setting a new school record with 19 blocks as a team. Engelbrecht and Taylor weren't the only two with huge nights at the net as Sydni Shelton also played a key part in slowing down the Bisons attack as she also finished with a career high nine blocks to go along with 12 kills to help KSU secure the huge road victory.
 
This was the second time this season KSU has won ASUN Player of the Week and ASUN Defensive Player of the Week in the same week.
 
It was the first time in school history that Kennesaw State swept Lipscomb in the regular season and the first time and ASUN team has swept Lipscomb since the 2013 season.
 
This weekend, KSU looks to keep rolling on the road at NJIT on Friday, October 27 and USC Upstate on Sunday, October 29.
