Orlando, Fl. -- Kennesaw State women's golfer
Roanne Tomlinson finished second at the Orlando International Amateur Golf Championship on Saturday (Dec.30).
Tomlinson posted rounds of 68-74-74 for an even par total of 216 to finish second at the Palm Course at World Disney World Golf. Tomlinson made 34 pars and 10 birdies in the three-day event. Tomlinson opened the tournament with six birdies and 10 pars in route to a 4-under par 68.
"This is another great result for Roanne," head Coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "The Orlando International Amateur Golf Championship is a prestigious event and for her to take runner-up over a loaded field is a testament to her hard work this offseason. "
The junior is second on the team with a 73.55 scoring average through her first 11 rounds as an Owl. She finished in the top 12 in three of four events this fall. Her best finish of the fall was a sixth-place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational where she carded rounds of 72-71-70 for a 3-under par total of 213.
Tomlinson and the Owls will open the spring season Feb.19-20 at the Moon Golf Invitational hosted by Louisville in Melbourne, Florida.
