KENNESAW, Ga. – Three Kennesaw State volleyball players traveled out to Colorado Springs, Co. for the U.S. Women's Volleyball Team Open tryout last weekend. Anaiah Boyer and Katarina Morton attended the tryout for the second time and Kristi Piedimonte participated in the tryout for the first time.
 
There were 238 athletes from 84 colleges and 10 high schools from across the country at the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Collegiate National Team program. This was the third year in a row that a Kennesaw State player has participated in the tryout and first year that more than one student-athlete has attended.
 
"This was my second time going out there, so I had a good idea of the entire process," Boyer said. "It's always good to be able play with the top athletes in the country and see how they carry themselves. Kat, Kristi and I got a lot out of the experience and it will make us better as we continue to train for our senior year. We love to represent Kennesaw State every chance we get and it's beginning to grow in the volleyball community."
 
This past season, Kennesaw State won a share of the ASUN Regular Season Championship and are looking to build upon that success as the team only lost two members from the team a season ago. Head coach Keith Schunzel has made it a priority to get his student-athletes out to Colorado Springs every season as a way for his student-athletes to continue to grow.
 
"I always love sending Kennesaw State volleyball players out to the USA Olympic training center for this tryout," Schunzel said. "Kat, Kristi and Anaiah got the chance to train, compete and live with the best 238 college players in the country all weekend, a scenario that is impossible to replicate on campus. The incredible experience that they went through, not only from playing with and against players of that caliber for three days, but also to see how players at that level think, carry themselves and go about their business are all invaluable as our three women head into their senior year as leaders in our program."

Currently, KSU is in the middle of their spring schedule preparing for their 2017 season.
