SCHEDULE

KENNESAW, Ga.
– The Kennesaw State volleyball team has finalized its 2017 schedule with 14 ASUN matches set to begin on Friday, September 22 at home against the defending ASUN Champion Lipscomb Bisons.

A couple weeks ago, KSUOwls.com announced the non-conference portion of the volleyball schedule that includes Georgia, Tennessee, Georgia State and Troy in the KSU Convocation Center. Head coach Keith Schunzel has prepared a tough non-conference slate that includes five matches between SEC and ACC opponents to get his team ready for ASUN play.

"The ASUN continues to be one of the most underrated volleyball conferences in the country," Schunzel said. "The competition at the top of our league will be fierce and competitive, as always. The top four finishing teams in the league from 2016 all returned the vast majority of their lineups and a couple of the bottom half teams added some really nice players and coaches."

After the Owls begin conference play against Lipscomb, they will stay at home one more week hosting FGCU and Stetson on Friday, September 29 and 30. The Owls, Bisons and Eagles have finished top three in the standings the past two seasons.

Entering October, Kennesaw State travels down to Jacksonville to take on Jacksonville and North Florida before heading home to host USC Upstate and NJIT on Friday, October 13 and October 14.

The Owls begin the second half of ASUN play in Nashville at Lipscomb on Friday, October 20.

Senior day for the Owls will be on Saturday, November 4 against Jacksonville.

KSU ends the regular season by playing FGCU on Saturday, November 11 in what could prove to be a pivotal match for the ASUN standings heading into the tournament a week later.

A season ago, Kennesaw State won its first ASUN regular season championship by going 12-2 and will be looking to build on that even more heading into the 2017 season.

"Past achievements are not a guarantee for any future successes we strive for, which is something we continue to preach to our team," Schunzel said. "Our players know they must have a good summer on their own and prepare themselves well, mentally and physically. We'll also be playing the most challenging non-conference schedule we've ever had in order to prepare us for ASUN play, which is an exciting thing. How our team accepts those challenges of improving during the summer and playing a tough non-conference schedule will go a long way towards our goals in the ASUN."
