KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State volleyball team beat the Chattanooga Mocs in an exhibition match at the KSU Convocation Center in preparation for the 2017 season.
 
The Owls claimed all four sets against the Mocs 25-16, 25-13, 25-16, 25-15 using a variety of lineups throughout the four sets.
 
"After a spring and summer of training and preparing, it was awesome to see our players put on their jerseys and go at it against another team," head coach Keith Schunzel said. "Even though this one won't count in the record books, we played about as complete of a match as we could have played this early in the fall.  We're not where we'll be in a few months, but we're certainly at a great starting point."  
 
Junior middle blocker Liesl Engelbrecht led the way with 12 kills hitting .524 on the night while also having five blocks.
 
Kristi Piedimonte and Lexi Broadwater split sets at setter and led the team to a combined .260 hitting percentage for the match. Piedimonte finished with 18 assists and Broadwater finished with 21.
 
Freshman Karlee Groover saw action at libero in the final two sets and finished the match with 13 digs.
 
Kennesaw State begins its 2017 season on Sunday, August 27 at 2 p.m. against Troy at the KSU Convocation Center.
