BRASELTON, Ga.- The No.44 Kennesaw State women's golf team captured it's third ASUN Women's Golf Championship title at the Par-71 Chateau Elan Legends Club on Tuesday.
The win earned the Owls an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Golf Championships.

The format of the tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather.

Entering the day six-shots behind, the Owls posted a 4-over par 288 to finish at 25-over par 601. KSU finished the tournament nine shots clear of second-place North Florida.

"It feels so good for this trophy be back in our hands," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "This was a very frustrating few days with the amount of rain we had coming in and the uncertainty of whether we would be able to play another 18 holes of golf. The team did an outstanding job of staying patient and trusting what we had done the entire year. We have a wonderful group of young women who work every day to represent Kennesaw State at the highest level and we look forward to advancing to NCAA regional play."

Junior Madison Caldwell  won the individual title with a 1-over par total of 145. Caldwell birdied her final hole of the day to shoot 2-under par round of 69. She became the fourth Owl in program history to take home individual medalist honors joining Ines Lescudier, Clara Aveling and Dulcie Sverdloff. The 2-under par 69 was her 11th at par or better this season.

"I'm so incredibly proud of Madison for winning the individual title," Brinsmead said. "She made six birdies today which was so impressive given the conditions."

Charlotte Charrayre carded an even-par round of 71 to finish in a tie for second at 3-over par 147. The junior played her last five holes in 2-under par to secure her career-best finish.

Clara Aveling posted a 2-over par 73 to finish tied for fifth a 7-over 151. The junior's 24 pars in the event tied with Charrayre for second most in the field.

Caldwell, Aveling and Charrayre all earned spots on the ASUN All-Tournament team.

"Charlotte and Clara being named to the all-tournament team was outstanding," Brinsmead said.

Senior Henriette Nielsen and junior Medy Thavong finished tied for at 15-over par 159. Thavong recorded a 4-over par 75 while Nielsen added a 5-over par 76.

"This has been an outstanding season so far and I'd like to thank Kennesaw State administration for their support," Brinsmead said. "I also want to send a huge thank you to Eric for all his hard work this year."

Kennesaw State turns its attention to a third NCAA postseason appearance. The NCAA Regional Championships are scheduled for May 7-9 at four pre-determined sites that include TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California, hosted by Stanford University; the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas, hosted by the University of Texas; the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin, hosted by the University of Wisconsin; and the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course & Club in Tallahassee, Florida, hosted by Florida State University. The national championships are slated for May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The entire 72-team field will be announced April 25 live on Golf Channel at 5:30 (ET).
