KENNESAW, Ga. - Freshman Blair Winston tallied a game-high 15 kills to lead Troy to a 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-20) victory over UT Chattanooga in the opening game of the 2012 Kennesaw State Owls Classic at the KSU Convocation Center on Friday.
Senior middle hitter Breanna Cullity tallied 14 kills and a.recorded a .379 hitting percentage and senior middle hitter Devin Von Pingel added 13 kills and a registered game-high .545 hitting percentage for Trojans (4-4).
Senior middle blocker Christina Teter and freshman outside hitter Julimar Alvarado paced the Mocs (4-4).
After hitting just .053 in the first set, Troy found its rythym and swept the final three sets. The Trojans came back strong in the second set as they hit .267 and posted a game-high .310 hitting percentage in the third set.
Troy finished the match with a .192 hitting percentage while UT Chatanooga post a .144 attack percentage.
The Mocs return to the court at aprozimately 2:30 p.m. to take on Tennessee State, while Troy faces North Carolina Central at 5 p.m.
