KENNESAW STATE, Ga. - Sophomore outside hitter Naomi Wells recorded a double-double, posting a game-high 23 kills and totaling 11 digs to lead Tennessee State to a four-set victory over UT Chattanooga during Friday's opening day of the Kennesaw State Owls Classic at the KSU Convocation Center. The Tigers won by scores of 25-19, 28-30, 25-22, 25-23.

Joining Wells in double-figure kill totals for the Tigers (4-4) were Lindsay Hornsby (13) and Sherryce Butler (12). Junior setter Erikia Moss contributed 37 set assists and added a team-high 14 digs for Tennessee State.

Freshman outside hitter Julimar Alvarado and rookie middle blocker Lauren Gainer led the Mocs (4-5) with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.

UT Chattanooga, which lost its second game of the day, returns to action on Saturday when it takes on Kennesaw State beginning at noon. The Mocs opened the tournament with a four-set loss to Troy in the first game of the tournament.

Tennessee State returns to the court for Friday's final contest when it takes on the host Owls beginning at 7 p.m.
