Jay McDowell begins his first year at Kennesaw State football as the Owls’ director of football video operations.
 
Affectionately known as “Jay-Mac” by those in and around the game of college football, McDowell oversees all of the football program's information technology including its state-of-the-art video analysis system, the XOS game exchange system, the maintenance of the recruiting video database, coordinates the filming of all practices and games, the production of highlight films and graphics. He is also a board member for the Catabult Game Exchange System and a longtime member of the College Sports Video Association.
 
In his 33-year career as a video coordinator, McDowell has won a total of eight conference Video Coordinator of the Year awards from the Collegiate Sports Video Association making him one of the most decorated video directors in history of college football.
 
Prior to his current position, McDowell served as director of football video operations at Central Michigan for 15 years, and assistant athletics director for sports technology at Southern Miss for five years. He was also the director of video operations at the University of Louisiana-Monroe for five years and his experience includes positions at Colorado and McNeese State as well.
 
A Louisiana native, McDowell earned his bachelor's degree in mass communication/media studies from McNeese State University in 1996.
 
He and his wife, Misty, have a son, Dakota, and a daughter, Mia. His son, Dakota, is a junior at Kennesaw State University.
