Sonya Woods begins her first year at Kennesaw State as the Director of Olympic Sports Performance in 2023. She will work with soccer, women's lacrosse, tennis, women's golf and softball. Woods comes from Coastal Carolina University serving as the Director of Speed, Strength, and Conditioning Coach in Olympic Sports since January 2016. Before she was named director in 2016, she operated as the Associate Director of the same department dating back to 2008. While with Coastal Carolina, she assisted with all 19 sport programs and created year around speed, strength, and conditioning program for softball and women’s soccer teams.
She spent three years as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Winthrop University creating strength programs for eight different sports. While in Rock Hill, S.C., Woods also assisted the head strength coach in basketball, baseball, men's soccer and volleyball. In May 2007, she graduated with a master of science in physical education from Winthrop University. Woods has collected her CSCCa, FMS and adult CPR/AED and first aid certifications.
