The Gold Experience
GOLD- Growth, Outreach, Leadership, and Development
The GOLD Experience develops the whole student-athlete by providing opportunities to grow both as a student and an athlete. The program focuses on four main areas: growth, outreach, leadership, and development.
GOLD Cup
The GOLD Cup is a friendly competition among teams to encourage attendance at specific events. Teams will be awarded points, based upon the percentage of the team that attends. As teams reach point “mile markers”, they will receive prizes such as a free meal or small token. The overall winner is announced at the Student-Athlete Banquet in April/May.
The Golden Rule Award
This award is given to the team that completes the most team initiated community service hours during the year. The award would be presented at the Student-Athlete Banquet in April/May.
Career Development Certificate
Student-Athletes may choose to participate in the Career Development Certificate program. Upon, completing all the requirements, the students will be awarded a certificate. There is no set timeline for a student-athlete to complete the program. The requirements are:

AOD Peer Educators
In conjunction with the Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery, Student-Athletes are trained to present on Alcohol Education to KSU 1101 classes. Training is completed by the KSU Center for Health and Wellness. Upon completion of the training, students are certified as Peer Educators through the Bacchus Network. This year, we have three athletes participating.
Student-Athlete Leadership Program
The leadership program is designed to help student-athletes discover and improve their leadership skills not only on the field but also in life.
Team Building
Teams can request that SASS host a team building session. The session will include fun and interactive activities to help build relationships and communication skills among team members.
